Statement of Foundational Beliefs
God is one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Jesus Christ is God Incarnate, born of a virgin by the Holy Spirit, lived a sinless life, died for all humankind according to the scriptures, was raised bodily from the dead, and is ascended into heaven as Lord of all. Jesus Christ is 100% God and 100% man for all eternity.
Man was created in the image of God but fell into sin and is therefore lost. Only through personal faith in Jesus Christ and regeneration by the Holy Spirit can salvation and spiritual life be obtained.
Jesus Christ is the only name under heaven by which we might be saved.
Jesus Christ bore all the sin of all humankind on the Cross. The Redemptive work of Jesus Christ is finished, but only those who believe are saved.
The present work of the Holy Spirit is to take all that is of Jesus Christ and make Him real to us, in us, and through us. The Holy Spirit glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ, convicts men of sin, regenerates the believing sinner, and indwells, guides, instructs, and empowers the believer for godly living and service.
The Bible is the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings, (verbal, plenary, infallible, and inerrant throughout), and is the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men, and the divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life.
The Body of Christ consists of all who are in Christ Jesus.
Water baptism and the Lord's Supper are ordinances to be observed by the church during the present age. They are, however, not to be regarded as a means of salvation.
Jesus Christ is coming again -- His return will be personal and premillennial and imminent.
All humankind will be bodily raised from the dead and judged by God by Jesus Christ.
Some of the finer points:
It is impossible to LOSE your salvation -- once saved, you are forever saved. But it is nevertheless possible to REFUSE salvation -- to reject Christ and never be saved to begin with. It is also possible to lose the fullness of God's purpose for you as a saved person.
All of the spiritual gifts are POSSIBLE for today.
The baptism of the Holy Spirit is NOT a second blessing. Rather, the baptism of the Holy Spirit is salvation received in Christ, in whom we are complete, and in whom we possess all that is of God.
Homosexuality is sin. But there is redemption through Jesus Christ for all sinners.
Marriage that is ordained by God is only possible between one man and one woman, and is intended by God for life. Divorce is permissible where the marriage has already been severed in cases of adultery and desertion.
Evolution and Christianity are incompatible.
Rejected as Heresy
Five Point Calvinism is heresy -- it errs on almost every point of the foundation of the Redemption. It distorts the nature and character of God Himself and His plan through Jesus Christ.
The Word of Faith movement is heresy.
The Apostolic / Prophetic movement is heresy.
The Latter Rain movement is heresy.
The Gospel of self-esteem, as taught by Robert Schuller and Joel Osteen, is heresy.
