Purpose of the Church

Purpose Statement: People building people for God’s glory

Mission Statement: We are a body of believers that have covenanted together to worship God, evangelize the lost, disciple the saved, fellowship together, and minister to the needs of believers and unbelievers alike.

Statement of Faith

God the Father:  We believe that God is one, the Father of all.

Jesus: We believe that Jesus is the only begotten Son of God, was born of a virgin, was wholly God and wholly man, lived a sinless life, died in our place as a sacrifice for the sins of all of mankind, was buried, arose bodily from the grave, and ascended into Heaven. - Matt. 1:18, John 1:1, I Cor. 15:3-4

Holy Spirit: We believe that the Holy Spirit of God is active in convincing unbelievers of their need for salvation, and is the Comforter and Guide in every believer. - John 16:8-11, John 16:13

Christ's Return: We believe that Jesus Christ will literally return to earth and rapture His Church

Bible: The scriptures (66 books) are to be our sole authority for faith (what we believe) and practice (what we live). First and foremost, the Cornerstone Church will answer and hold itself accountable to Jesus Christ and His inspired Word that He has given to mankind. - II Tim. 3:16-17, II Peter 1:21

Man: We believe that man is a special creation of God, made in His image, but that through the sin of the first man, Adam, mankind fell so that all men are sinners and need salvation. - Gen. 1:26, Romans 5:12

Salvation: We believe that salvation is a gift received through repentance toward God and faith alone in the Lord Jesus Christ. - Mark 1:15, John 3:16

Assurance: We believe that every person who is truly saved is eternally secure in the Lord Jesus Christ. - John 10:29, Romans 8:38-39

Eternity: We believe that those persons who die in their sins without Christ spend eternity in Hell and those persons who die with their sins forgiven through Christ spend eternity in Heaven. - Luke 16:19-24, Matt. 25:41, John 3:36

Baptism: We believe that water baptism is an act of obedience to the command of Christ and is by immersion after salvation. - Matt. 28:19, Acts 8:36-39

Church: We believe that the church is a local body of baptized believers with the Lord Jesus Christ as the Head. - I Cor. 1:1-2, Eph. 5:23

Prayer: We believe that each believer has direct access to God through the Lord Jesus Christ. - Heb. 4:16

The Believers Walk: We believe that every believer is to strive to keep himself pure from all sin and evil by the grace of God. The Word of God commands every Christian to maintain a separated and sanctified lifestyle from the world. - II Cor. 6:17

The Home: We believe that God has first placed the parents in a position of leadership and authority over their children before any earthly institution or government. Therefore, ultimately, it is the responsibility of the parents to oversee and ensure the religious and academic training of their children and the mental, emotional, and physical welfare of their children. - Eph. 6:1-4, Exodus 20:12, Deut. 11:18-19
