Out of Darkness Into the Light |
by David A. DePra |
Did you ever notice what happens when you spend some
time in the darkness, and then walk out into the light? You get
somewhat blinded by the light. It takes time for your eyes to
become adjusted to the light. At first you have to squint, or
perhaps shield yourself. But after a while, you are able to see.
The light no longer bothers you.
It is like this with the Truth. Truth is light. Error is darkness.
When we have been in the darkness all of our lives -- on any
point, big or small -- we need adjustment once God brings us
into the light. We will at first be disoriented and awkward. But
after a while, we will be adjusted. We will see clearly, in the
light, whatever God has revealed to us. Then we can live in it.
Unfortunately, there is also a negative Truth which is involved
here. If we are in the light and walk into darkness, it also takes
some time to adjust. But notice something. The adjustment is
much easier and faster. In fact, while the light almost HURTS
our eyes, the darkness relaxes them. In just a few seconds
we are able to move and live in the darkness.
God says, "This IS the condemnation, that men loved
darkness rather than light, because there deeds were evil."
God has, in Christ, brought us into the Light. May His people
not seek refuge from The Light in any darkness. *
